When I first heard the phrase “sex-positive” I inwardly thought – yes, that’s me! I started using those words to describe my solo show, and it felt right.
So what is it?

Sexologist, Carol Queen, defines it this way: Sex-positivity allows for and in fact celebrates sexual diversity, differing desires, relationship structures and individual choices based on consent.

The idea certainly seems to be catching on. Last weekend, Gabriella Cordova, sex educator, relationship coach and friend debuted her non-profit organization, Sex-Positive World. Sex Positive World advocates being more touch-positive, heart-centered and connected. The organization offers educational and community-building events. There are plans to do research as well.

Gabriella already heads up two Meetup groups: Sex-Positive Portland and Sex-Positive LA. There are over a thousand people involved. Her nonprofit will take that success and compound it city by city and state by state.

I am a volunteer organizer for Sex-Positive World and was right there for it’s coming out party at the sexuality convention, CatalystCon.
The world premier of my show, Coming Out Kinky – A Grown Up Story – will be a benefit for Sex-Positive World. Stay tuned!
