With my background as a seminar leader and my fascination with sexuality, it may not surprise you that I’m researching how I can combine the two. But how? Someone suggested I look up a guy named Reid Mahalko at Reid About Sex. Bingo! Reid is a sex expert and world class trainer. Visiting his website filled me with the thrill of recognition (ooh ooh ooh that’s me that’s me that’s me), but also a greedy, craving impatience (that should be me right now!)

With the magic of Twitter, I learned that Reid was coming into town and needed a few people to be in the audience for a video shoot. Double bingo!
Within a day, I went from seeing Reid as a far off celebrity to receiving enthusiastic texts from him about the shoot’s location in Malibu. The day unfolded like magic. The location – a beautiful home on the ocean – combined with terrific like-minded people and great conversation, created a welcoming, safe environment.
When I arrived, Reid was relaxed and friendly – clearly comfortable with himself and the proceedings around him. A team from a Swedish TV show for women called, 69 Things You Want to Know About Sex, were setting up. (I love being around cameras!)
I knew ahead of time that this class was going to be unlike any I’d ever attended. Not only was it about an interesting topic – hand sex – it was also going to be accompanied by a show and tell demonstration. This meant that a model was going to be right there with Reid during his discussion of anatomy (there’s so much to know about a woman’s business!) and technique. The model (Sienna) gave feedback and offered her perspective through out the class. And yes, she was quite nude from the waist down.
Having Sienna there, added tremendously to the learning experience. And as you can guess, it was erotic, too. But this is an important point, just because it was erotic to be there doesn’t take away one iota from the learning that went on. It doesn’t discredit what Reid did – it enhanced it. Reid modeled the very communication skills that he teaches in his classes – setting boundaries, listening and being an attentive partner. The class didn’t devolve into something else just because some of us were turned on. It was a class when it started and it was a class until the end.
Ladies and gentleman, it was fascinating.
