My name is Jean Franzblau, and I’m a Sex Geek.

The term Sex Geek was coined by Reid Mihalko and has caught on like wildfire. Tons of us have our own t-shirts. We not only feel cool when we wear them, we are also helping Reid to promote his brand.

Clever of him, yes?

The Sex Geek concept is just one of scores of great ideas that have helped Reid turn sex education into a thriving business. And as an idea-man and skilled business-maven, Reid is the perfect guy to produce the first ever summer camp to help sex educators improve in business. It’s called Sex Geek Summer Camp.

As I write, I am jetting east from Los Angeles towards West Virginia where I will spend the next five days immersed in learning, planning, networking and playing. It feels like the most productive, happy vacation that I can imagine. And this very fact tells me that I am finally on the right path.

It’s taken quite a while.

Seven years ago, I attended a class about how to build a business as a keynote speaker. I knew that keynotes would one day be part of my path, but what would I talk about?

The topic I was developing at the time was customer service. I chose customer service for logical reasons – I had experience in that world and there was demand for it. Inwardly it felt flat and grey.

One litmus test for knowing one has found the right topic is this question: would you keep up to date on this subject in your free time? Read customer service articles in my free time? Hells no. It wasn’t yet time for me to do keynotes. I hadn’t yet found “the thing.” And so I tucked my class notes away to see what life would bring.

And life brought sex: a sexy play, several sexy workshops, new sexy friends and a whole new life steeped in the topic of sexuality. This is a subject that continues to keep me riveted. I am happy to spend my free time at events, workshops and retreats. I found my “hells yes” topic. My thing!

The flight captain has announced that we’ll be landing soon. It’s time to tuck away the laptop, look at the clouds and acknowledge how lucky I am.

My name is Jean Franzblau, and I am indeed a Sex Geek.
